Helpful Hints for Electronic Filing

  • Please take the time to backup your files. If the hard drive on your PC crashes, you will not be able to restore the campaign finance data you have entered into Campaign ToolBox™ without a backup. If you do not have a regular backup routine, please use the "Copy data files to disk" selection under Tools on the Main Page menu bar.

  • If you've created a Statutory Report that has an invalid due date, or the start and end dates overlap with another report, you must exit out of the Statutory Report process. Then when you open it again, make the changes required and create the report again.

  • The Quick Reference Guide can be found under Help on the Main Page of Campaign ToolBox™ menu bar.

  • Please familiarize yourself with the drop down boxes (Contribution Mode, Contribution Type, and Contributor Type) on the Contribution entry screen. This is easily done by clicking on the help menu in the top menu bar of the contribution screen. Each item is described on the Help Page.

  • Please enter contributions as they are received. If you wait until your report is due to enter your contributions and expenses and experience a problem, time will be short to correct the problem.

  • Please print your report each time you enter a batch of contributions. This allows you to familiarize yourself with creating a report and to verify the correctness of the report. The report process creates a report that will alert you to possible errors such as missing occupation and employer data and cumulative contributions from a single contributor greater that $1000.

  • When submitting your report to the Registry, please deliver both the hard copy (paper copy) and the electronic file (on disk or via internet). Be sure to keep a hard copy for your own records.

  • Please check your software version to make sure it is current. Be aware that the software vendor will be releasing newer versions of the software as "bugs" are encountered and new features are added. It is essential to be on the latest version when you submit your report. The version is displayed in the "Welcome to Campaign ToolBox™ Kentucky" window or under Help on the Main Page menu bar.

  • For help with UNITEMIZED contributions, please consult Campaign ToolBox™ Help on the contribution screen.

  • Please remember to key in any previously submitted annual or quarterly reports associated with this election to ensure your cumulative totals are correct.
